How I get into Coding

When I first using a computer when I was about age 5. Window 95 was the Operating System. I didn't even know how to shutdown the system properly. I used the computer solely for entertainment. I love drawing when I was little. Microsoft Paint was my playground. I learned how to use all the tools by myself.

I got to experience internet when I was 12. It was the dial up internet access. I had to connect the internet by the telephone line to the modem in computer and inserting the other end into the phone jack. Looking back now, I am amazed by my patience because the internet speed was super slow at that time.

At age 15, I started my first massively multiplayer online role-playing game(MMORPG). That game was one of the reasons that got me into coding. Playing a MMORPG can be time consuming, a friend of mine introduced macroing, botting, or autoing(Is what we called at that time). The correct term for today would be automating. So I learned to write my first code in .txt file to use a third-party software to perform automated tasks such as farming or leveling my character with the bot system. Today, I wouldn't recommend everyone to do it because botting (automation) had ruined a few MMORPG games in the last decade.

Fast forward to my college year. I did get into coding until community college (my first programming language was c++)

I grew into like programming. I want to be better at it, and I think computer technology will make an impact to our life. As a result, I chose computer science as my major when I admitted into NC State.

I learned valuable lessons from school that helps me in task planning, collaboration, communication, and decision making. Especially many skills that I believe will give myself an edge in anything that I do, from finishing my school work, to pursuing personal projects and launching my career.
